THERE WILL BE NOTHING INSIDE THAT YOU CAN FIX & YOU WILL DESTROY THE VALUE OF THE CORE. THIS CAN'T BE STRESSED ENOUGH, DO NOT DISASSEMBLE YOUR THERMOSTAT OR OVEN CONTROL VALVE. IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE A DEFECTIVE PART, PLEASE DO NOT DISASSEMBLE IT. THERE IS CURRENTLY A SEVERE SHORTAGE OF REBUILDABLE CORES AND YOU MUST PROVIDE A REBUILDABLE CORE IN ORDER TO GET A WORKING PART BACK. Starting in mid 2007 Seaward redesigned their oven controls, eliminating the mercury control valve and making this troubleshooting guide not applicable to models built after mid READ ME! THE MAJORITY OF OVEN THERMOSTATS & CONTROLS ARE OUT OF PRODUCTION AND MUST BE REBUILT. This oven troubleshooting guide was written specifically for Seaward / Princess / Hillerange stoves manufactured prior to September 2007 It is applicable to many other brands of RV & marine stoves including many Magic Chef, Wedgewood, Kenyon, & early Gas Systems ovens. Worked every time, except the deep of winter when you needed more preheat.1 1 of 20 SURE MARINE SERVICE INC. ![]() Then light your grill lighter first and then open the valve a little bit to light the burner. I usually put a pot of water on top to block the flame, and I always needed some hot water, so that preheats water while at it. Light that little puddle (I never had any reall flare issues, but then I don't have long hair and didn't hang curtains and a bunch of crap over my stove) with a long grill lighter. To light one (in good working order), pump it up, crack open the valve to let enough liquid alcohol out to fill the little recess around the burner pipe in the bottom pan then close it. ![]() The orifices can clog w/ corrosion over time and disuse and then it sputters and won't stay lit. As long as it saw reasonably regular use, it worked great. I replaced the burner plates, and orifices, a screen, some seals, etc. I rebuilt the Homestrand on my old Tartan 30 and it worked fine. ![]()
